Having a clean and safe environment to live in is a very important part of the United Nations Convention of the Rights of a Child.
Article 24 – You have the right to a clean and safe environment
Article 27 – you have the right to a safe place to live
Our rights respecting team decided to conduct a litter pick of our local area, Nightingale Woods, as part of Bristol Council's autumn litter blitz.
We presented a special assembly to the Y3 children to teach them about the dangers of litter, and introduce a competition. The competition was to design an anti-litter poster. The winners were able to take part in the litter pick.
The rights respecting team chose 11 children to take part, and we spent a great morning cleaning up our local environment. In the end we collected 5 whole carrier bags of rubbish!
We were very disappointed in our community for dropping this litter, and taught the whole school about what to do with our rubbish in another assembly.
The Rights Respecting team chose three members of Y3 to join their team, due to their enthusiasm and understanding. Well done Filip, Matilda and Zara.
