September 2016 - Environmental week

1st September 2016

This week, year 4 have been using the local environment to learn about adaptation and inheritance. We explored the woods to find various leaves and bugs talking about the similarities and differences between them then using the leaves as inspiration for our clay tile designs. We practised sketching and shading before creating our clay tile. The children loved roaming the woods and seeing the pond for the first time. We will paint our clay tiles sometime in the next couple of weeks after they have been put in the kiln at Waycroft.

Year 6 visited the woods to find inspiration for their “Through the hedge” art. They painted real life objects through a small visualiser. Many were rewarded certificates in assembly for their perseverance, detail and fantastic work.
